Stages of Gum Disease
Treatment for Gum Disease
It is essential to undergo regular scaling and polishing every six months to remove plaque, tartar, and germs, preventing them from negatively impacting the gums and bone structure. In certain cases, in addition to scaling and polishing, root planing (deep cleaning) may be necessary to eliminate plaque that has accumulated deep within the gums. This procedure is performed comfortably under local anesthesia.
In the treatment of gum disease, medication such as antibiotics and antiseptic mouthwash may be prescribed as supplementary measures. Patients who have a genetic predisposition to gum disease may require more frequent visits to the clinic, typically every four months, to maintain the health of their gums and bone structure.
