HOW DOES TEETH STAINING HAPPEN?
Beside whitening treatment,
daily maintenance are important too.
These are the reason for tooth to be stained:
1. Habits: Tea/coffee stain, smoking stain, betel quid stain
2. Food intake: Dark sauce, red wine, food substance with colouring
3. Physical contact: Filling colour, darkening of root canal treated tooth
4. Medication: Tetracycline, Fluoride staining
DO & DON'T TO DO AFTER TEETH WHITENING
1. Brush Regularly
Regular brushing with fluoridated toothpaste at least twice per day. Brush 1 hour after meal is recommended
3. Follow the “white diet”
Your teeth tends to be porous after whitening and it is very recommended to follow the white diet after whitening session. White diet is primarily consist of white and light colour food like, fish, tofu and chicken.
1. NO Smoking
Cigarette and tobacco contain nicotine, which can cause yellowing of the tooth and that can be hard to remove. It is important to limit smoking and it is preferable to cease smoking.
2. Do NOT eat food or products that can stain your teeth
You are recommended to avoid food and products that can stain your teeth like, coffee, chocolate, dark sauce, turmeric, wine and dark fruits. It is best t avoid those food 48 hours after whitening session, then continue in moderation.
3. Reduce sugar intake
Sugar can cause increase plaque accumulation, lead to decay and damage of the tooth. Avoid sugar food reduces caries development and it is also beneficial to your general health too.
4. NOT too hot, NOT too cold
Your teeth tends to be more sensitive after whitening session, therefore it is best to avoid food and drinks that are too hot or too cold to avoid any sensitive sensation. You can use toothpaste for sensitivity to reduce the sensitive.
