CROWN & BRIDGE

WHEN CAVITY IS TOO BIG, CAN'T US JUST DO A NORMAL FILLING?

From the perspective of the patient, it is understandable that everyone wants to save on treatment costs. However, from the perspective of a dentist, our main concern is the long-term health of the teeth. Having a poorly done dental restoration increases the likelihood of future tooth decay.

Of course, a decayed tooth can be restored, but this vicious cycle of decay and restoration gradually depletes the tooth’s “life span,” making it more and more fragile. Once the tooth structure is compromised to a significant extent, extraction becomes the only option, and we do not hope to see it to our patient till to this extend.

TYPES OF DENTAL CROWN

PFM

Porcelain Fused to Metal Crown, commonly referred to as PFM, consists of a metal layer underneath the tooth-colored porcelain outer layer. This type of dental crown offers a cost-effective solution, making it a suitable choice for individuals with budgetary constraints.

FULL PORCELAIN

Full porcelain crowns are particularly well-suited for front teeth as they eliminate the presence of a black line at the gum level, which is typically seen with PFM crowns due to the visible inner metal layer. These crowns are considered superior to PFMs or gold crowns because they are crafted entirely from porcelain, resulting in a more natural and aesthetically pleasing look.

ZIRCONIA CROWN

Zirconia Crown is a durable and visually appealing all-ceramic crown that showcases a natural white color. This type of crown is commonly used to enhance the appearance of teeth that have become discolored or deformed over time. Zirconia Crowns are known for their longevity, ease of wear, and overall durability.

DENTAL CROWNS ARE MOST SUITABLE FOR:

  1. Tooth discolouration
  2.  Dental conditions like enamel hypoplasia and fluorosis.
  3. Individuals with congenital dental malformations.
  4. Misaligned teeth.
  5. Fractured Teeth
  6. Teeth that have undergone root canal treatment.
  7. Individuals who desire whiter and straighter teeth.
